Terms of Service
Last updated: August 17, 2026
By downloading or using Nephi Plates, you agree to these terms.
About this app
Nephi Plates is an independent, unofficial app for reading public-domain LDS scripture text. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Acceptance of terms
These terms form an agreement between you and Nephi Plates's developer. If you don't agree to them, don't use the app.
Eligibility
You must be able to form a binding contract to use Nephi Plates, and account creation requires an email address or sign-in provider consistent with that provider's own age requirements. See our Privacy Policy for more on children's privacy.
Scripture text
The Book of Mormon text included is the 1830 first edition. The Old and New Testament text is the King James Version. The Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price text is drawn from public-domain editions. All included scripture text is in the public domain in the United States.
User accounts
You're responsible for the accuracy of information you provide when creating an account and for keeping your password confidential. Don't impersonate others or post content that is abusive, illegal, or violates others' privacy. You can sign out or permanently delete your account at any time — see our Account Deletion page.
Acceptable use
Use Nephi Plates for personal, non-commercial scripture reading and study. Don't redistribute the app or its bundled data as your own product, attempt to disrupt the service, or use it in any way that violates applicable law.
User content
Prayer requests, notes, and verse comments you submit are visible publicly within the app to every user, including people who haven't created an account — they are not private messages. Don't post anyone else's personal information without their consent, or anything unlawful, threatening, or abusive. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms. You retain ownership of what you post, and grant us the right to display it within the app to other users as the feature is designed to do.
AI-generated content
Verse study content — including explanations, cross-references, historical and cultural context, word studies, symbolism, theological commentary, and study questions — is generated by an AI model. It is offered as a study aid, may contain errors or oversimplifications, and does not represent official teaching or doctrine of any church. Verify anything important against scripture itself or other trusted sources.
Intellectual property
The Nephi Plates app itself — its design, code, and original content — is the property of its developer. Scripture text is public domain (see “Scripture text” above); icons are used under their own license (see the app's in-app Acknowledgments).
Third-party services
The app relies on third-party services to operate, including Supabase (accounts, database, and Realtime), Apple, Google, Facebook, and X (sign-in), and Anthropic (AI-generated verse content). Your use of features backed by these services is also subject to those providers' own terms.
App availability
We aim to keep Nephi Plates available and working, but don't guarantee uninterrupted access — the app or specific features (like Prayers or AI-generated verse content) may be unavailable at times, including for maintenance or due to a third-party service outage.
Disclaimers
Nephi Plates is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy of scripture text, AI-generated content, or fitness for a particular purpose.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nephi Plates's developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the app for accounts that violate these terms. You can stop using the app, or delete your account, at any time.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the updated version will be posted here with a new “last updated” date above.
