Terms of Service

Nephi Plates is an independent, unofficial scripture reading and study application.

Nephi Plates is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or an official product of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

References to religious organizations, publications, scriptures, trademarks, or other third-party materials do not imply endorsement or affiliation.

Many Nephi Plates features may be used without creating an account.

Account-based and community features may be subject to age and eligibility requirements.

Children under 13 should not create an account, submit public community content, or provide personal information through account-based or community features unless an authorized method permitting such use is specifically provided in accordance with applicable law.

If you use the Service on behalf of another person or entity where legally permitted, you represent that you have authority to do so.

Certain features, including community features and supported cross-device synchronization, may require an account.

You agree to provide information reasonably necessary to create and maintain your account and to keep your authentication credentials secure.

You are responsible for activity occurring through your account to the extent permitted by applicable law.

You must not access another person's account without authorization or attempt to circumvent authentication, security, or access controls.

If you believe your account has been accessed without authorization, please contact us.

Nephi Plates may provide scripture text from public-domain sources or other sources that Nephi Plates is permitted to use.

Public-domain status and intellectual-property protections may vary between jurisdictions.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, scripture references, study materials, explanations, reading plans, historical information, AI-assisted content, and other religious or educational material provided through Nephi Plates should not be understood as official doctrine, official interpretation, or official guidance from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or any other religious organization.

Users should consult official or otherwise trusted sources when authoritative religious information is important.

Nephi Plates may allow users to create or submit content (“User Content”), including:

• prayer requests;
• notes or responses to prayer requests;
• verse comments;
• private verse notes; and
• other content supported by the Service.

Prayer requests, responses or notes submitted to public prayer requests, verse comments, and other features identified as public or community features may be visible to other users and, depending on the feature, people who are not signed in.

Private verse notes and content specifically identified as private are intended for your personal use and are not intended to be publicly displayed.

Do not submit information you consider private, confidential, or sensitive through a feature identified as public.

By submitting public User Content, you agree to follow these Terms and applicable community standards.

You must not use Nephi Plates to submit, publish, promote, request, or distribute content that:

• is unlawful or promotes unlawful activity;
• threatens, harasses, bullies, intimidates, or abuses another person;
• promotes hatred or unlawful discrimination against individuals or groups;
• exploits, endangers, or sexually abuses children;
• contains sexually explicit or pornographic material;
• encourages suicide, self-harm, or serious physical harm;
• contains credible threats of violence;
• promotes dangerous or harmful conduct;
• impersonates another person or misrepresents your identity in a deceptive manner;
• intentionally exposes another person's private or confidential information without authorization;
• is fraudulent, deceptive, spam, or intended to manipulate the Service;
• infringes copyrights, trademarks, privacy rights, publicity rights, or other rights belonging to another person;
• contains malicious code or attempts to interfere with the operation or security of the Service; or
• otherwise violates these Terms or applicable law.

Nephi Plates may establish additional reasonable community guidelines as community features evolve.

Where community features are provided, Nephi Plates may provide tools for reporting content or users and blocking or restricting interactions with other users.

We may review reports and may remove, restrict, hide, or limit access to User Content or accounts when we reasonably believe doing so is appropriate to enforce these Terms, comply with applicable law, respond to reports, protect users, or maintain the integrity and security of the Service.

We do not guarantee that all objectionable content will be identified or removed immediately.

Repeated or serious violations may result in restriction or termination of access to community features or the Service.

Misuse of reporting or moderation systems may itself result in restrictions.

You retain any ownership rights you have in User Content you submit.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights and permissions necessary to submit your User Content.

When you submit User Content intended to be public, you grant Nephi Plates a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, transmit, and otherwise process that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, provide, secure, moderate, and improve the applicable features of the Service.

This license does not transfer ownership of your User Content to Nephi Plates.

The license generally ends when the applicable User Content is deleted from active systems, except to the extent continued processing or retention is reasonably necessary for backups, security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or other purposes permitted by applicable law and described in our Privacy Policy.

Nephi Plates may provide features that use artificial intelligence to generate scripture explanations, historical or cultural context, word studies, symbolism, discussion questions, reading assistance, and similar study material.

AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, outdated information, or interpretations with which you disagree.

AI-generated material is provided for informational and study purposes and should not be considered official religious doctrine or an authoritative interpretation from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or any other religious organization.

You should verify information with scripture, official publications, or other trusted sources when accuracy or doctrinal interpretation is important.

Additional information regarding information processed in connection with AI features is provided in our Privacy Policy.

You agree not to:

• use the Service for unlawful purposes;
• interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure;
• attempt to bypass security, authentication, moderation, rate limits, or access controls;
• gain or attempt to gain unauthorized access to accounts, databases, systems, or information;
• introduce malware or malicious code;
• use automated systems to scrape, harvest, or excessively access the Service except where expressly authorized;
• use another person's account without permission;
• impersonate another person or falsely represent an affiliation;
• misuse community, reporting, or moderation features; or
• use the Service in a manner that infringes the rights of others.

Except for User Content, public-domain material, third-party material, and content otherwise identified as belonging to others, the Nephi Plates software, original designs, interfaces, graphics, branding, and original materials are owned by or licensed to the developer and may be protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

Nothing in these Terms gives you ownership of Nephi Plates intellectual property.

Third-party names, trademarks, service marks, publications, fonts, icons, software, scripture editions, and other materials remain subject to the rights and licenses of their respective owners.

Nephi Plates may rely on third-party providers for features such as authentication, databases, cloud infrastructure, synchronization, and AI-assisted study tools.

These providers may include services such as Supabase, Apple, Google, Meta/Facebook, X, and Anthropic, depending on the features you use.

Your interaction with a third-party provider may also be subject to that provider's terms and privacy practices.

Nephi Plates is not responsible for third-party services to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Our Privacy Policy provides additional information about third-party processing associated with the Service.

Your privacy is important to the operation of Nephi Plates.

Our Privacy Policy explains how information may be collected, used, stored, shared, retained, and deleted when you use the Service.

By using Nephi Plates, you acknowledge that you have had an opportunity to review the Privacy Policy.

These Terms and the Privacy Policy should be read together.

You may stop using Nephi Plates at any time.

If you have an account, you may initiate account deletion using the account controls provided within the app. An external account-deletion resource may also be provided through the Nephi Plates website.

Account deletion is intended to delete the account and associated personal data from active Nephi Plates systems, subject to limited retention where permitted or required for legitimate purposes such as security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, backups, or legal compliance.

User Content associated with the account will be deleted or otherwise handled as described in our Privacy Policy and as required by applicable law and platform requirements.

Deletion from backups or other residual systems may not occur immediately.

Deleting your Nephi Plates account does not necessarily delete information independently maintained by third-party providers.

Please review our Privacy Policy and Account Deletion information for additional details.

We may modify, update, add, suspend, or discontinue features of Nephi Plates from time to time.

We do not guarantee that the Service or any particular feature will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

Service interruptions may occur because of maintenance, updates, technical problems, security issues, third-party outages, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Where required by applicable law, changes affecting your legal rights will be handled in accordance with applicable requirements.

You may stop using the Service at any time.

We may restrict, suspend, or terminate access to an account, User Content, community features, or other portions of the Service when we reasonably believe that:

• these Terms have been materially or repeatedly violated;
• the Service is being abused or misused;
• an account or activity creates a security risk;
• action is reasonably necessary to protect other users;
• action is required by law or valid legal process; or
• continued access could materially harm the Service or its operation.

Where reasonable and legally permitted, we may provide notice or an opportunity to address the issue.

Nothing in this section limits rights you may have under applicable law.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Nephi Plates is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure, or that every piece of informational, study, community, or AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or suitable for every purpose.

Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties, guarantees, consumer rights, or other protections that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Nephi Plates and its developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or similar damages arising from or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the Service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law.

Your rights may vary depending on where you live.

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the Service, our practices, platform requirements, or applicable law.

When these Terms are updated, we will revise the “Last updated” date.

If required by applicable law, we may provide additional notice or request renewed acceptance before material changes become effective.

Continued use of the Service after updated Terms become effective may constitute acceptance of those Terms where permitted by applicable law.

If a provision of these Terms is determined to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be interpreted or limited to the extent reasonably necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect to the extent permitted by applicable law.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms or policies expressly presented for a particular feature, constitute the agreement governing your use of Nephi Plates with respect to the matters covered by these documents.

Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot legally be waived or limited.
